Donald Trump regretted, Tuesday, June 17, that Europeans “Do not offer a fair agreement” To appease the trade war with the United States, when the announced break ends on July 9. “Either we find a good agreement, or they will pay what we will tell them to pay”added the American president, who spoke on the plane which brought him back from the summit of the group of seven (G7) which is held in Canada.

Defuse the commercial offensive

The objective of many leaders present at the G7 was to defuse Mr. Trump's commercial offensive. The American president has imposed customs duties of at least 10 % on most products imported into the United States and threatens to further increase the level of taxes.

After threatening to impose customs duties of 50 % on European imports from 1er June, the American president had accepted at the end of May to postpone the date of the establishment of these customs duties on July 9, after a telephone call with the president of the European Commission.
