Pope Francis, convalescent after a serious pneumonia, offered himself, Sunday April 13, an unforeseen crowd bath of ten minutes on Saint-Pierre square, welcoming the faithful and religious who came for the Mass of the Ramal Sundays.

The 88-year-old pope, seated in his wheelchair and seeming in fairly good shape, without nasal cannulas for oxygen, went around, shaking hands, making candy offered to children before launching from the altar in front of the Saint-Pierre Basilica “Good Sunday of the twigs, good holy week”.

In his Sunday prayer of the Angelus, transmitted by the Vatican, the Pope thanked the faithful for their prayers and called for peace in the world, with a particular thought for the victims of the collapse of the roof of a nightclub in Santo Domingo.

The Sovereign Argentinian Pontiff has multiplied for a week these surprised outings which are not in any official Vatican program. François had made an unexpected first appearance a week ago in front of the Saint-Pierre basilica to greet the faithful, before receiving King Charles III in England in private hearing on Wednesday and Queen Camilla, while their interview had been initially canceled.

He also went to the Saint-Pierre Basilica on Thursday to inspect renovation work and collect himself in front of the tomb of Pius X, greeting in the faithful and restaurateurs and Saturday he went to pray in his favorite basilica, that of Sainte-Marie-Majeure.
