Polish police announced on Wednesday April 9, the dismantling of a large network of online pedocrime, an operation carried out in cooperation with 11 other European countries. The operation, whose code name is “fever”, led to the arrest of 166 people across Europe, including 98 in Poland.
She was carried out with the support of Europol and her Cybercrime Action Taskforce joint, and Danish, Estonian, German, Greek, Hungarian, Irish, Lettonne, Romanian, Spanish, Swedish and Bulgarian authorities, said the central office of the fight against the Cybercrime of the Polish police in a press release.
“Among the people arrested are people who have produced photographs and videos showing the sexual exploitation of minors, who animated online forums where they exchanged the content collected, and who pushed minors to have suicidal thoughts”said the central office of the fight against cybercrime of the Polish police in a statement. “Among the authors of these acts are also close to the victims and people of trust”according to the press release.
One hundred and fifty-nine searches
Of the 166 people arrested, 111 were placed in pre -trial detention, including 48 in Poland, the Polish police said. In Poland, nearly 600 police officers led 159 searches and seized a total of more than 1,700 devices and data supports, including computers, hard drives, phones and SIM cards. More than 520,000 video files and child porn images were entered during the operation.
Polish police also quoted among the successes of “Fever” the operation which conducted in March to the dismantling of Kidflix, a vast streaming platform of child pornographic content. Begun in 2022, the investigation involved the authorities of 38 countries in total and led to the identification of nearly 1,400 people and the arrest of 79 people, Europol explained.
