How many acts of sexual violence will appear in the “book of the executioners” set up in June by the Ukrainian State? This file will compile all the data collected on war crimes and will mention the Russian soldiers accused of having committed them. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky promised that those who gave the orders would also be named. “Everyone will be brought to justice”added the Head of State on 7 June.
For the time being, it is impossible to determine with precision the number of rapes committed by the Russian forces. But the testimonies already make it possible to affirm that the phenomenon is massive.
In this episode of the “L’Heure du Monde” podcast, Ghazal Golshiri, journalist at the International Service of the World, recounts his report in a village northeast of kyiv, the Ukrainian capital. Victims still in shock told him about the sexual violence they suffered. The anthropologist Véronique Nahoum-Grappe also returns to the specificities of rape in times of war and the trauma it causes to the victims.
An episode produced by Claire Leys and Cyrielle Bedu, directed by Florentin Baume and presented by Jean-Guillaume Santi.
