En 1992, Francis Fukuyama published his famous The end of the story and the last man [Flammarion]a book in which he observed that the States, at least on paper, had reached a consensus on the principles of American -type democracy. Historical events could still happen, history had nevertheless reached its end, with the triumph of America and its way of life, which has become the supreme ideal of humanity.
Barely more than three decades later, all of humanity is witnessing today with the collapse of the collapse of this illusion: democracy is today undermined not by any “rogue state” on the “axis of evil”, but by the United States themselves, launched in an unprecedented suicidal impulse among human societies. The sudden destruction, and of the interior in addition, of the DNA of a society which was so far the standard bearer of our aspirations to freedom, democracy and human rights can not be assimilated only to this moment when a person learns, amazed, that he is suffering from cancer.
