Emmanuel Macron accuses Vladimir Putin of being “on the side of war, not on the side of peace”, and denounces his “historical revisionism”

“President Putin is on the side of the war, not on the side of peace (…) And those who may have believed that he had a hint of peace are on their behalf ”said Emmanuel Macron alongside the Polish Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, in Nancy.

Reaffirming that France would participate in the hybrid meeting of the “Coalition of volunteers” Scheduled for Saturday in Ukraine, Mr. Macron said his “Willingness to build a solid and lasting peace” in Ukraine and French support for a 30-day ceasefire offered by Donald Trump and accepted “Unconditionally” by Volodymyr Zelenksy.

As for the words of Vladimir Putin seeking to justify his invasion of Ukraine in the name of the fight against Nazism, Mr. Macron denounced “A historical revisionism at the same time as a profound mistake”. “Poutinsime is an imperialism which only lives through territorial expansion, the threat of internationally recognized borders and international disorder”, he said.

Donald Tusk, for his part, condemned the decision of certain leaders who came to attend the ceremonies of 9-May, including the military parade, in Moscow. “Assistance to the victory parade of those who bomb cities, hospitals, nursery schools, which, for three years, have caused more than a million people or serious injuries (…) is a shame “he said.
