The visits to North Korea of Mr. Choigou, former Minister of Russian Defense, who had already gone to Pyongyang in March, before these two trips in June, illustrate the accelerated rapprochement between the two countries.
A contingent of North Korean soldiers participated, alongside the Russian army, in the fighting against the Ukrainian forces in the Russian Oblast of Koursk, partly occupied by the troops of kyiv since the summer of 2024, which Russia announced that it has fully restored control in late April.
