The head of the only American base in Greenland, Susannah Meyers, was dismissed because of the criticisms it made on the Trump administration policy vis-à-vis the immense Arctic Island, the American military authorities said on Thursday, April 10.

According to The American site military.comSusannah Meyers had distanced himself from the criticisms issued by the American vice-president, JD Vance, during his visit to the Pituffik base on March 28.

JD Vance had indeed vilified Denmark's action in Greenland, accusing him of neglecting the security of his autonomous territory. His visit was part of a context of tensions, President Trump repeating his desire to annex Greenland, which underlines that he is not for sale.

“I do not pretend to understand the current policy, but what I know is that the concerns of the American administration discussed by Vice-President Vance do not reflect those of the Pituffik air base”had written Ms. Meyers in an e-mail to all the staff of the base, civil and military, revealed by Military.com.
