France and Poland signed, Friday, May 9, on the grounds of the Palais de Stanislas, the town hall of Nancy, an unprecedented cooperation treaty, with very strong defense issues. Symbolically, the ceremony took place in full commemorations of the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, while Paris and Warsaw are today the two main conventional military powers of the European Union. At the same time, Vladimir Putin celebrated the surrender of Nazi Germany to Moscow alongside the Chinese president, Xi Jinping.

If the Treaty includes cooperation aspects in the economic, agricultural or educational fields, its military dimension is considered central by both parties. “Everyone is learning the lessons of history (…). I am deeply convinced (…) that France and Poland will be able to count on each other in all circumstances ”said Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk after the signature ceremony. “It's a new page (…). This treaty engages us in irreversible solidarity ”for his part, underlined the French president, Emmanuel Macron.
