Students who have been carrying out a protest movement in Serbia for several months have blocked access to public television and radio premises in two cities on Monday, April 14.

The demonstrators blocked, in Belgrade, the entries of the offices of the public radio-television public broadcaster (RTS) as well as a studio belonging to the same group, and the premises of the Radio-Television of Voïvodine (RTV) in the city of Novi Sad. The police were present on site but did not intervene.

Students accuse the national diffuser of ignoring their movement and their demonstrations. “The public channel works against us all”wrote the students on Instagram. They planted tents in front of RTS and RTV and promised to extend the blocking.

Almost daily demonstrations

Since the start of the demonstrations that have shaken Serbia, in a vast dispute against corruption born of a fatal accident in Novi Sad 1 stationer November, these media describe students as “Foreign agents”paid by the opposition, architects of a future “Coup d'etat”.

The demonstrations took place almost daily, sometimes bringing together hundreds of thousands of participants in major cities. The pressure exerted on the government by demonstrations led to the resignation of the Prime Minister and to the collapse of the government.

In response, President Aleksandar Vucic alternated calls for dialogue and accusations that students try a “Color Revolution”, In reference to the protest movements that led to the fall of certain leaders in the former Soviet space.
