The strike at Charleroi airport, Belgium's second busiest airport for passenger traffic, which began on Thursday 12 September, will continue on Friday. “For security reasons and due to lack of staff, all flights departing from and arriving at Charleroi airport are cancelled” Friday, as the day before, warned the operating company BSCA in a press release.
The conflict between airport staff and management concerns working conditions. A consultation meeting between management and unions is planned for Friday morning to try to find a solution to this conflict, according to this text.
Charleroi Airport serves more than 190 destinations, many of them in the Mediterranean basin. It claims a traffic of eight million passengers per year. It is the number two in Belgium behind Brussels-Zaventem.
